hinweis | Acryl auf Zeichenkarton ARTIST BIOGRAPHY (from Internet offer): Lombardero was born in Tampa, Florida in 1922 and died in 2004. He is recognized as one of the most important illustrators of the Twentieth Century, with several works held by the National Museum of American Illustration. He won an art scholarship and studied design at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. After World War II he worked as a showcase and ad designer in Florida for two years. Moving to New York in 1948, he worked for Sudler & Hennessey for several years as an illustrator specializing in comps and pharmaceutical illustrations. During the 1960s he illustrated several books in the well-known Time-Life Science series. He also produced record jackets for RCA, Capitol, Camden and EMI, primarily for classical and jazz albums. Lombardero became a hugely sought after book cover illustrator, completing work for Dell, Popular Library, Pyramid, Jove, Trident, Harper & Row, and many others. His specialties were primarily mystery, science-fiction, adult westerns, and gothic romance covers. Among his many awards, he received the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Mystery Book Cover.
